TripAdvisor review
Remember where you are! Mountain view is absolutely right. Remember that Lalibela was controlled by Tigray from 2020-22. Lalibela is still recovering from that tragedy. Several hotels and restaurants still have not re-opened. Everything about this hotel is awesome! Staff, rooms, meals, etc. It's a great choice if you are visiting Lalibela (-:
Traveler with OAT The staff were truly outstanding—warm, attentive, and always ready to help. The food was excellent, with every meal exceeding expectations. The location and views were simply breathtaking. Without a doubt, this is the best hotel in Ethiopia. I had an unforgettable stay and a wonderful time.

Thank you for your warm welcome Amazing view, very friendly staff that decorated our rooms and meals with plenty of fresh flowers.Very good breakfast. The most beautiful stary night sky admire from this hotel. Great architecture of the hotel with extraordinar views to the greenish valley. The hotel us harmonious integrated into the landscape. The hotel îs not far away from the Unesco gems of the Lalibela Churches and from a shopping area ( downtown Lalibela). We felt very safe în Lalibela and we enjoyed a great and unique visit.
Amazing Views This hotel is situated in a really amazing location overlooking the entire mountain and valley vista of Lalibela. It is also walking distance to local shops and restaurants. The staff is friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, it was in a pit of disrepair when we stayed there. This might be because they were closed for a few months due to the regional war that recently subsided. Once they get back up on their feet, this will be a truly great place for a few nights rest when exploring Lalibela.

Top hotel Within walking distance of the town centre . Ate at the quirky Scottish woman's restaurant not far away on one night and the other night in the hotel. I ordered a pizza at the hotel and it was huge I could only eat half!
Nice enough rooms, but avoid the restaurant Pretty much standard 'top-end Ethiopian' hotel (meaning mid-range European standard), decent-size rooms, balconies with fabulous views (same's true for the terrace). Corridors got a little bit noisy with guest's children running up and down, but not really the hotel's fault. Neat trick with the short staircases between levels, which seem all have a half-size riser on the top step, nicely designed to generate broken necks!Very disappointing restaurant -- made the mistake of eating here when we arrived, rather late, and not only did we not get what we ordered (which, it was made clear, was out fault!), but it was perhaps the worst meal we had in 3 weeks in Ethiopia.

Look for a better option This hotel has a great view as is written in the other reviews, but that is probably the only good thing about this hotel. Other few hotels just next door have the same view as well. I know this hotel looks good in the pictures, but the reality is a bit different. The hotel is not isolated as it might seem in the pictures, there are few hotels just next door with similar view. However, the hotel is in a quiet area which is nice, I have to say.We stayed here 2 nights and experienced poor service. The rooms are a bit tired, the cleanliness is O.K., nice balcony, but the bathroom is really very basic, not very clean and tired too. The pressure of water is zero when your neighbor in next room is having a shower. So imagine that you are standing soaped in a shower and suddenly there is no water that you can wash with and you have to wait next 10 minutes while somebody else in other room will finish his shower. Really „funny“.The breakfast is a joke. Not even simple. Some coffee that you might wait for 15 minutes and scrambled eggs plus some not fresh brad (probably from previous days). There are definitely better options in Lalibela than this hotel.

Needs Renovations Yes, the views are terrific. The condition of the rooms is sad! The furniture is in poor shape, walls are scuffed up and bathrooms need upgrading. On our second night the toilet sprung a leak and flooded the bathroom. We were forced to change rooms. That same evening, the bar tender tried to cheat us, by pouring doubles when we ordered singles, then demanding payment for the doubles! The Johnny Walker Scotch tasted off, and was likely fake.Except for the bar tender, staff are very pleasant and seem to want to do a good job. Beware though about settling your bill! The credit card machine seems to only work sporadically, so you may be forced to pay in cash. ATMs generally have low limits of only 2,000, or 4,000 ETBs, so getting enough cash can be a problem.
